Thonglor moves slower once the trying stops.

Why THONGLOR, why now

BK Magazine is actively featuring Thonglor's newest wave of openings in 2026, positioning it as Bangkok's buzziest all-day-into-night district right now. The string of bar and restaurant debuts along Sukhumvit 55, plus butler concepts and wellness studios folded into community malls, has redrawn the map.

1. Met Cafe Bangkok

Met Cafe Bangkok opens this course because the afternoon light holds longer on a rooftop, and the menu runs wide enough that no one has to decide too hard. The cafe sits at the center of Thonglor, so parking and arrival are straightforward. It's a spacious daytime stop that lets the rest of the route unfold without rushing.

Crew's note

The tile wall doesn't rush.

What visitors say

Be careful — it’s overpriced. The menu shows prices without clearly mentioning that service charge and VAT will be added on top. Then, when…

Spacious, cool and comfortable place. Fast Wi-Fi, strong aircon. The prices are rather high (ok, ok, it's Thonglor area) and the serving siz…

2. Destination RoofTop Bar

Destination RoofTop Bar closes the course because night routing in Thonglor should end where the buildings fall away and the street noise drops back. A fifth-floor club with chairs and no crowd press gives the evening a different shape than the ground-level strip below. The route finishes where it started, but higher and quieter.

Crew's note

The umbrellas are still folded. Pick any table.

What visitors say

A new addition to the many bars/lounges in Bangkok. This one hits different. Their speciality - pinacolda. One is not enough. Located on the…

Perfect for a night out! The staff is super welcoming, and the prices are fair for the quality you get. 10/10 would recommend!

The walk between

The walk between them is a question of which part of Sukhumvit 55 you choose to see before dark. The strip is filling in with new storefronts this year, and the blocks between the two rooftops hold enough openings that the route can bend if you want it to.

  • Start the cafe stop mid-afternoon so the rooftop light is still workable and the evening bar opens without a long wait in between.
  • Pair the course with a meal stop elsewhere if you're planning a full night, the cafe serves small portions and the bar is snack-only upstairs.

FAQ

How does pricing feel across both stops?
The cafe runs high for Thonglor, with service charge and VAT added at billing, so the menu price is not the final one. The rooftop bar is considered fairly priced by visitors for the category and the view.
Can this course stretch into a longer night if needed?
The bar has a downstairs cigar lounge worth checking if the rooftop empties too early or the mood shifts. The Thonglor strip also runs late enough that ground-level options stay open past the rooftop close.
