PUNNAWITHI Day to Night Course

Punnawithi slows before you ask it to.

Why PUNNAWITHI, why now

The Phra Khanong to Punnawithi corridor is drawing the same crowd that priced itself out of Thonglor. The F&B and creative scene here runs at a fraction of central Sukhumvit rates, and the BTS makes it easy enough that locals are already calling it next.

1. May Veggie Home

May Veggie Home opens the course because lunch here sets a different pace. The soi is quieter than Sukhumvit proper, and the menu runs wide enough that you can settle in without a plan. Mango sticky rice anchors the category, but the kitchen handles everything from pad thai to burgers, so groups with mixed appetites land fine. Start here mid-morning or just past noon, and the rest of the afternoon has room to breathe.

The terrace opens before 11. Bring nothing but appetite.

Beautiful cafe situated in a side street a bit away from bustling Sukumvit Rd. Rich menu with Thai favorites as well as some western choices…

Quick takeaway from Grab, I ended up ordering against before I left Bangkok. My daughter loved the burgers, very special indeed. Handled my…

2. YELLOW ROOM

YELLOW ROOM closes the route because a rooftop with live music and a mostly-local crowd is where this kind of day should end. It sits a short walk from the BTS, up a few flights in a building that doesn't announce itself. The vibe splits between the louder main floor and a quieter upstairs, so you can pick your setting after you arrive. Punnawithi doesn't push you out at midnight, and neither does this bar.

The traffic keeps moving. You don't have to.

Easy to go there as I took BTS and then walk around 10 minutes. Atmosphere is so chill. If you go with friends, I recommend here.

Very cool bar with nice interior design and nicely crowded on a Friday evening. Life music and life Muay Thai on TV - good mix.

The walk between

The stretch between them threads through low-rise blocks and side streets that haven't filled in yet. You'll pass local shopfronts and the occasional new cafe testing the market, all of it BTS-close but still reading residential.

  • May Veggie Home handles takeaway through Grab if you want to skip the wait, and the AC situation can vary, so the open-air section is your backup.
  • YELLOW ROOM gets livelier on Friday and Saturday nights, but the upstairs stays conversational even when the main floor fills. If you're here for a date or slower talk, head up.

常見問題

Does May Veggie Home work for non-vegetarians?
Yes. The menu leans vegetarian but the portions and variety pull in meat-eaters without issue. One review mentions a husband who eats meat enjoying the lunch as much as his vegetarian wife, and the khao soi and burgers get specific mentions for flavor and handling dietary requests.
Is YELLOW ROOM hard to find?
A little. It's on top of a building that looks quieter than it is, so first-timers sometimes circle before spotting the entrance. Once you're inside, the layout is clear and the staff points you where you need to go.
